Weight by itself means little. However, one of the best ways to measure body fat in the absence of the sophisticated lab methods is by way of equations developed by Hodgden and Beckett at the Naval Health Research Center. These equations require an overall weight input. You may therefore need to weigh yourself in order the arrive at one of the best measures of health. By the way, the very popular bodyfat monitors are not very accurate or consistent. I've owned several of the more expensive (and highly rated) ones and found them all to be deficient even when the guidelines are followed.

I found this information very productive & helping. Before this I thought that only weighing is enough.
Now I am well aware by reading this article that body composition is the main thing not the BMI.

Shannon. No, size 10 isn't fat if you are healthy and always have been a size 10 when you were healthy. If you were always a size 6 and you have gained weight to become a size 10, it probably means you are gaining extra and unnecessary weight...that indeed may be fat. That is the point.

I was so happy to read the information about the human BMI verse the LBM. The information really gave me a true ensite on the body fat it self. For a long time I could never figure it out. However, it was quoted very well in this article. I'm struggling everday with my weight, it gets so hard . I constantly research to better understand the importances of good health and how to stay in the best of health. Therefore, I know I need to loose weight bad.
