BMI – Body Mass Index

BMI (Body mass index) or Quetelet Index is a statistical measure of the weight of a person scaled according to height. BMI does not take into consideration a person’s frame size or what a person’s weight is made up of (fat or muscle), and as a result, may not be the best measure of fitness. However, it does give you a loose sense of whether or not you are in a healthy range of weight. This should be used as a guide only.

Your Body Mass Index, when factored with your waist measurement, can be an indicator of the level of risk you are at for getting a disease associated with unhealthy levels of weight. Some associated diseases include diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
