This is definatley a great article. We should give it to everyone who joins a fitness club/gym. I totally agree with Mr. Snrub. Meat Grinders are my most hated. They actually think they own the place and can throw or drop the weight whenever they want because, and I quote "I may my dues so I can do whatever I want here!" Words of a fool.

The "Meat Grinder" is really "Gym Guy," and gym guy is probably the only person in the history of the world who makes both the 10 Most Hated People List and the 10 Funniest People List.

Meat Grinder/Gym Guy will wear an altered shirt - usually some sort of tank top of which he's managed to cut out even more of the shirt. 1980's mop haircut/mullet, fanny pack, and 80's shorts are all optional.
Gym Guy also knows everything and his 3rd most important goal in life is to make sure everyone else knows that he knows everything. Gym Guy is especially good at knowing what your body can and cannot do...
Gym Guy: "2 more...it's all you!"
You: "Really, because you were practically dead lifting the last 5 and I just felt my right pec explode. And is it absolutely necessary for you to stick your smelly hairy pit 12 inches from my face when spotting me?"

Gym Guy: "You need protein. You only have a 40 minute window to get protein after your workout."
You: "What are you a rep for GNC? And what makes you so sure I didn't wake up and eat a giant ball of protein before I got here?"

Gym Guy: "I used to struggle like you, but that's when you got to put your head to the grindstone and get in here twice every day."
You: "I have a life."

You: "All the other people seem to avoid gym guy like a bad fart. I think I will follow these people."
Gym Guy: "Hey, that looks like a new member walking through the door and I'm a lot stronger than him. I bet he'd love to here what I have to say."

Brett--
There's a woman who comes to my gym religiously at around 3 PM every day, gets on a stationary bicycle and pedals it just enough to keep Dr. Phil turned on for her tv monitor(about 2-4 strokes a minute). I'm not sure who she's fooling. I use her as my object lesson when I'm doing intervals.

thanks for the reminder, though...

I think that this post makes a lot of sense to me. I mean if you aren't feeling anything when lifting 10lb, put 20lb, then 30 lb and so on and keep trying until you could lift it, but with difficulty.
