Thanks for this. I guess it just confirms what I'm already doing. Egg whites, canned tuna and non-fat plain organic yogurt. The whey protien I like is great (Wild Harvest Vanilla Whey, organic, no RGBH, no cholesterol, low sugar, almost 20g of protien per serving and only 90 calories-it's perfect) BUT it's 18.00-20.00 per tub.
I don't eat any other meats-just fish, so things can get boring.
Lentils are worth mentioning. .79 cents a bag makes two huge pots of lentil soup-high fiber, high protien, low cal.
I'm also a fan of soybeans (frozen) when I can get them. I'll sometimes do soybeans with eggs whites and diced tomato. I'll add brocoli if I'm feeling really wild.
Dreamfields pasta is pretty wonderful also. The same price as other pastas, but a low glycemic index, far less calories and carbs and tastes like REAL pasta! I mix 1 cup cooked elbows with a single serve can of tuna, with a tablespoon of non-fat yogurt, a tablespoon of parm, sprinkle it with fresh parsley and fresh cracked pepper-a taste sensation in 10 minutes with like 30 grams of protien and just over 300 calories!!
